Ms. Wheelchair California Comes Up Winner!
Jennifer Kumiyama took First Runner-Up to Alexandra MacArthur, from North Carolina, who is now Ms. Wheelchair America. This is an amazing title and one that is very important.
Jennifer was amazing, made the judges cry with her platform speech and song "When You Wish Upon A Star", and was an incredible representative of the Golden State and women with disabilities.
Katie Banister, from Missouri, is Fourth Runner-Up; Kemi Yemi Ese, from Texas, is Third Runner-Up; and Tiffany Nickel, from Kansas, is Second Runner-Up.
Jennifer won the Lifetime Achievement Award for her ground breaking role in Aladdin, and being the first and only wheelchair user to perform live in a Disney stage production.
We will be in attendance at the Long Beach Greek Festival Labor Day Weekend, and we have received an invitation to the California Department of Fish and Game Disability Awareness Event in Sacramento in October. There will be many other appearances for Jennifer as her reign as Ms. Wheelchair California continues until April 2011!
